Real projects delivered for Geelong businesses

What We Deliver

One-off projects handled from assessment through to handover. No retainers, no lock-in - just the work you need, done properly.

Microsoft 365 Onboarding & Migration

Moving from Gmail, on-premises Exchange, or a basic hosted plan to Microsoft 365. We handle user setup, data migration, Teams, SharePoint, and security configuration with zero downtime.

Equipment Rollouts

New laptops, workstations, or tablets deployed properly. We pre-build, configure, and install each device so your team is productive from day one - not spending a week getting set up.

Network Hardware Replacement

Routers, switches, and firewalls replaced and configured to current standards. We design the network, source the hardware, and handle installation with minimal disruption to your business.

SharePoint & OneDrive Migration

Moving from a local file server, NAS, or Dropbox to Microsoft SharePoint and OneDrive. We restructure your files for cloud, migrate the data, and set permissions so everyone can find what they need.

Backup & Disaster Recovery Setup

Implementing a proper backup strategy from scratch - or fixing one that's been neglected. Includes selecting the right solution, configuring schedules and retention, and verifying restores actually work.

Server Deployment & Replacement

New server installations, aging server replacements, and virtualisation projects. We spec the hardware, handle procurement, configure the environment, and migrate your data cleanly.

WiFi & Network Infrastructure

Structured cabling, access point deployment, and network segmentation for offices and commercial spaces. We design coverage for your specific layout and install it properly the first time.

IT Assessments & Technology Reviews

Not sure what you need, or want a second opinion before a big spend? We assess your current environment, identify risks and inefficiencies, and give you an honest report with clear recommendations.

How We Work

Step 01

Assess

We look at what you have and what you need. No assumptions, no guesswork. If we spot anything else worth flagging, we will.

Step 02

Scope & Quote

You get a clear written scope and a fixed price. We agree on the approach, the timeline, and what success looks like before any work starts.

Step 03

Deliver

We do the work, communicate at key milestones, and flag anything unexpected the moment we find it. No surprises at the end.

Step 04

Hand Over

You get full documentation, all credentials, and a walkthrough of what was done. We don't disappear once the job is finished.

When to Bring in a Specialist

Most businesses have some form of IT support - whether that is an internal person, a managed service provider, or someone they call when things break. But there are projects that fall outside of what those arrangements are built to handle.

A managed IT provider typically charges monthly to keep your systems running. That model works well for day-to-day support, but it is not designed for one-off delivery work. When you ask your MSP to quote a SharePoint migration or a full equipment rollout, you often get an expensive time-and-materials estimate because project work is not their core business.

Internal IT staff face a similar problem. They may know your systems well, but they may not have experience with a specific migration path, a particular vendor platform, or the complexity of a larger infrastructure change. Asking them to figure it out on the job introduces risk that a specialist avoids.

Better Networks exists for exactly this gap. We are not a helpdesk. We are project-focused specialists who assess the job, quote it fairly, and execute it to a professional standard. Once the project is delivered, your regular IT provider picks up from there.

Fixed Pricing, No Surprises

Time-and-materials billing puts all the risk on you. If a job takes longer than expected, you pay for it. If something unexpected comes up mid-project, the meter keeps running. For a business trying to manage a budget, that is unacceptable.

We quote every project at a fixed price after a proper assessment. That means we carry the risk if something takes longer than planned. You know the cost before you commit, and the price does not change unless the scope does.

If we find something unexpected during the assessment - ageing hardware, a security gap, misconfigured accounts - we tell you upfront. You can decide whether to address it as part of the project or separately. Nothing gets added to your bill without a conversation first.

For businesses that need broader support beyond the project, we can also point you toward our managed IT services - ongoing, fixed-monthly support that covers your whole environment.

FAQ

IT Consulting FAQs

Straight answers, no fluff.

It depends on the scope, but we always give you a fixed-price quote before any work begins. After our initial assessment, you will receive a clear scope and price - no open-ended time-and-materials billing.

Yes. If your current provider handles day-to-day support but doesn't have the capacity or expertise for a specific project, we step in for that project and hand back cleanly when it's done. We're happy to collaborate professionally.

We review your current environment - hardware, software, network, accounts, and whatever's relevant to the project. You get a straight-talking assessment of what you have, what you need, and the best approach. There's no cost for the assessment on projects above a certain size.

Yes, always. Every project ends with a handover pack covering what was done, how it's configured, and what your team needs to know to use it. If we set up admin access, you get all the credentials in a secure format.

We can manage the whole thing. You tell us what you need, we assess, scope, deliver, and hand over. We'll keep you updated at key milestones, but you don't need to project-manage us.

We stand behind our work. If something we delivered isn't working correctly, we'll fix it. Beyond that, we offer ongoing support arrangements for clients who don't have a managed IT provider.

Either works. We can source and supply hardware at competitive prices through our reseller relationships, or we can configure and install equipment you have already purchased. We'll advise on spec if you want our input.
